How the Chichibu Futori is made
The Chichibu Futori is a traditional silk weaving art that started in the Edo era. It was originally used to make working clothes for peasants.
All thread made in this workshop are untwisted. Our products can be washed by hand at home.
We use a hand reeling machine to make thread.
Our main source for dye material are plants.
We use wheat flour to starch our threads.
We use different types of weaving looms depending on the product.
